250 more deaths. A company based in Pomezia (Rome) is studying a vaccine: it will be ready within 3 months
A light at the end of the tunnel
The number of deaths is increasing, but the vaccine is about to arrive
While today’s toll is 250 deaths and 2.100 new infected, IRBM, located in Pomezia, announces that it is studying a vaccine for coronavirus. It could be ready in a few months. Italian Istituto Superiore di Sanità raises the alarm for the South
Pietro di Lorenzo, President and CEO of IRBM (an Italian biological-molecular research institute), says: “We are ready. […]We are going to start with testing in mice on May, and then with human testing within June. […] If the outbreak kept spreading, regulatory authorities could shorten the testing time, both for animal and clinical trials.”
About 250 scientists are working in IRBM in partnership with the Jenner Institute of the Oxford University, in order to manufacture a coronavirus vaccine.
Silvio Brusaferro, of Italian Istituto Superiore di Sanità, gives a warning: “We will see the epidemic spreading in the South of Italy and in Rome in the coming days”
